Pre-op assessment & arriving for your procedure

Pre-op Assessment
Some procedures will require you to have a Pre-op Assessment. Should this be the case you will need to come to the ward prior to your procedure at an agreed date and time. During this appointment you will undergo some tests which may include heart monitoring and blood test. Prior to your Pre-op appointment you will be sent a questionnaire we would ask that you complete this in full and give to the nurse on arrival. We want to ensure that you are in the optimum health before undergoing surgery.

If you are no longer able to make your Pre-op assessment appointment you will need to contact us so we can reschedule for a more convenient time.

Arriving for your procedure
On arrival for your procedure a member of our team will show you to your room. Once you are settled your medical team will introduce themselves and check that you are ready for your procedure. Your consultant will explain the procedure to you and ask you to sign a consent form (presuming you are happy to proceed).

Theatre will contact the Suite when they are ready for you and you will be taken directly by one of our porters and a member of our nursing team. You will be anaesthetised in theatre.
